THE INVISIBLES

Director: Claus Rafle, 2017 Germany, 100 Minutes, German (with English subtitles)

In June 1943, Germany, infamously declared Berlin Judenfrei - “free of Jews.” But at that moment there were still 7000 Jews living in the capital: hiding and protected by courageous Berliners, while desperately trying to avoid deportation. The Invisibles depicts the experiences of four young adult survivors (one a teenager), interweaving their testimony with highly accomplished dramatizations, an unusual hybrid approach that brings edge-of-the-seat suspense to their years spent underground.

Gadi wants to donate one of his own kidney's to help save his father's life. However, the transplant committee objects. Furious, Gadi sets out to claim his right to do something meaningful, on his own, and help his father. Thoughtful, poignant, and unexpectedly funny, Shoelaces explores the complex relationships through the delicate lens of its special-needs hero.
