Jewish Family Programs

The MVJF is proud to offer a series of events for families with children ages 6 -12 throughout the year. These activities are open to all families interested in meeting, and having a good time with other Jewish families from across the Merrimack Valley. Programs have included an Evening Hay Ride with Campfire, Singing and Smores, and a Passover Seder Plate painting party. We had a very successful Family Film & Make Your Own Sundae event where over 40 people enjoyed "An American Tail" and rooted for Feivel to be reunited with his family! In addition, we offered a Ventriloquist Event and a concert with Ellen Allard.

Our Connection to Israel

We believe that learning about Israel, enjoying Israeli Culture ~ Art, Music and Dance and connecting deeply to Israelis and their needs is vital aspect of the MVJF mission. Therefore, we offer a variety of programs throughout the year and during the summer at Camp Hadar that help to link Jewish life in the Merrimack Valley with our homeland in Israel. We have held solidarity gatherings and Yom Ha'Atzmaut (Israel Independence Day) Events, and we often bring in experts on various aspects of Israel's accomplishments, opportunities and challenges. We invite you to join us for our next program.

Programs Funded by the Annual Campaign

Taglit-Birthright Israel

This gift of first time, peer group, educational trips to Israel is for Jewish young adults ages 18 to 26.  Its goals are to diminish the growing division between Israel and Jewish communities around the world; to strengthen the sense of solidarity among world Jewry and to strengthen participants' personal Jewish identity and connection to the Jewish people. This free 10-day trip is provided by private philanthropists, the Government of Israel and North American Jewish Federations.

Milton Issenberg Jewish Free Loan Association

This program disburses monies to individuals and families in the Merrimack Valley who have fallen on hard times and need help with payment on debts and living expenses. It offers a bridge to Jewish families and individuals while maintaining their dignity and self-respect. The individuals agree to a payment plan so that over time, the loan is returned to the Federation and it can be used to help others.

Jewish Community Programs

This fund supports programs that service or enrich the local Jewish and secular community. Examples of past initiatives include: the Lech Lecha Leadership Development initiative, Israel Independence Day celebration, the Global Day of Jewish Learning, Israel Scouts Concert at Camp Hadar, Yom Ha Shoah Holocaust Remembrance Cantata, Israeli Dance Master Teacher workshop, Synagogue President’s meetings and speakers and Soccer for Peace in Israel.

  • Programs like Masa and Taglit-Birthright Israel help connect young adults to Federation, Jewish life and Israel.

  • Through Masa, Karen found an internship in Tel Aviv--then stayed in Israel for three years.

  • Masa helped Karen develop as a leader and as a Jew.
